Green Design
Green building design is the heart of our work and is an integral part of all our projects. Green, or sustainable, building is design and construction that uses the earth’s natural systems (sun, wind and rain) to support building functions and that seeks to reduce or improve a building’s impact on the environment.
From the first meeting, we work with our clients to develop sustainability goals for their projects, offering suggestions on sustainable building materials and construction methods and discussing their relative costs and benefits.
Our collaboration with allied design professionals (engineers, interior designers, landscape architects) and builders is a vital part of setting realistic sustainability goals and of successful ‘green’ building projects.
“It's exciting to meet an architect with such a sensitivity to the landscape and environment, and I hope to have the opportunity to work with Juli on future projects!”
Brittany Wolf, Landscape Design/Project Manager, Pellettieri & Associates
“I had the pleasure of working with Juli on a local project in Georgetown this past spring. She brought an extensive knowledge of green building standards to the project, incorporating many LEED principles when LEED for homes was still in its pilot stage. Juli strives to constantly incorporate the most current construction materials and methods with a passion for sustainability.”
Matthew Ulrich, Matthew Ulrich Landscape Design
“Her knowledge about products, materials and their proper usage were invaluable towards the efforts of the entire project. She became a valuable team member: acting as a diplomatic interface between client and contractor. Juli easily shares her knowledge and expertise of green design both professionally and in her personal life. It is a pleasure to be associated with Juli professionally. I highly recommend engaging her architectural services.”
Lisa Kawski, lmk interiors ltd.
“We appreciated that you were committed to finding architectural solutions that were ecologically sensible. You had the knowledge and motivation to provide the direction for our "green" design…”
